(FYI:
Grips took a few days
to dry after sticky condition. Multiple coats before evenly settling over original “black” in controlled wait
-space during that time. Thus,
future reproductions
in quicker process likely won’t have colored grips.)
Metallic paint used is very durable to
regular hand-touch
. (I would still refrain from rougher handling and with any tight holsters.) I also suggest to treat this product more as craft-arts, or room and office display with added dimension for sporadic goofy joy. Quite similarly to how you actually treat a real -expensive- “rare and dangerous” pistol. That is, you’d still “baby” it.
As this was my first (prototype) attempt before looking ahead to future replications,
outer action parts
were stress-tested for their upheld paint.
Primarily the
hinge-corners
of the trigger and the
hammer’s rear side
. In those two spots, you’ll see touch-up work over “scarring” - as the paint is extra-layered, therefore easily compromised in those tight grinding spots.
The trigger matter
, requires a gently patient and “straight” pull (100% like real expert marksmanship traits - even as this specific Browning design
uniquely intended) - to
avoid or minimize contact-edge grinding
. Otherwise, you may need a “metallic pen marker” (Sharpee, etc) to retouch the eventual blemish - if it matters to you.
The hammer’s rear side
, does
not
show a “crack” - but rather a deep scrape upon the prior thick paint. This was from regular “thumb cocking” by my prior habit of owning a real Hi Power 9mm.
In the case of Umarex engineering, they redesigned the gun’s hammer to have a partial -still adequate- cocking travel, staying
cocked only
as the upper slide is fully racked.
(As that happens, the hammer also never “fully” pulls back like how I was “thumbing” to cause the rear-side paint blemish
.)
I have since repainted additional layers onto this blemished spot, otherwise likely ignored with ease by you.
